新創建交通服務有限公司在環境保護處提供資助下,購買十架電動巴士及相關設施,進行實際載客營運試驗計劃,當中五架新車來自山東的華廈神龍,並跟之前比亞迪電動巴士一樣,將其中兩架分配予新巴作試驗。

自從新巴跟城巴於二零零三年六月九日開始一同成為周大福企業集團旗下公司後,兩間公司在購買新車方面,不論型號以至車廂規格方面都趨於一致,是次試驗的電動巴士也不例外,新巴營運的華廈神龍電動巴士型號同是LS-130-116,長度亦是十一點五五米,載客量方面同樣是六十四人,提供了三十五個座位讓乘客可以安坐於車廂,空調系統由日本電裝供應,即使在炎炎夏日時候,仍然能夠提供一個舒適的車廂環境,路線牌箱仍舊是Hanover的橙色LED牌箱,配合新一代的LECIP自動報站系統,提供清晰乘車資訊予乘客。

跟城巴同款新車一樣,原計劃於二零一六年九月十二日開始作營運測試,但最終要解決技術上的問題,最終至二零一七年六月二日,兩架華廈神龍電動巴士才安排到78及81路線服務乘客。

NWS Transport tendered for 10 electric single deckers and related facilities for evaluation on revenue service under the aid of Pilot Green Transport Fund offered by the HKSAR Government. GDEV from Shandong, China successfully awarded 5 electric buses and two of the batch was allocated to NWFB fleet for trial.

Since City Bus and NWFB become sister company after Chow Tai Fook Enterprise, the parent company of NWFB, acquired City Bus on 9, Jun., 2003, both operators standardize their fleet and no exception for the electric bus. The model of the GDEV operated by NWFB is LS-130-116 which same as those running in City Bus and the overall length is 11.55m with 35 seatings plus 29 standees provided. The compartment air conditioned by Nippon Denso and the orange coloured LED route display is supplied by Hanover with the new generation LECIP next stop announcement system, passengers can receive clear and accurate onboard information.

The proposed date for the GDEV electric bus trial was started from 12, Sep., 2016, however, due to mechanical issues, the date was postponed to 2 Jun., 2017 and the NWFB GDEV started their evaluation on route 78 and 81 respectively.
