比亞迪K9R BYD K9R

二零一二年年中,香港特區政府透過環境保護處提供資助予五間專營巴士公司,購買共三十六輛電動巴士及相關設備,於本港試驗行走。經過相關招標程序,最終來自中國的比亞迪奪得來自新創建交通集團的訂單,提供五架K9R電動巴士作試驗,當中三架交由城巴營運,餘下兩架則加入新巴車隊。

比亞迪電動巴士在香港絕非新鮮事,早於二零一二年年尾,九巴率先從比亞迪手上接收一架K9D電動巴士作測試,而在最後的測試階段更安排行走2號路線,作載客測試。這架樣板電動巴士在歸還代理商之後,一直未有露面,直到二零一四年四月,才出席中國國際新能源汽車展,供與會人士參觀。回頭再看新巴是次試用的兩架比亞迪K9R電動巴士,除了型號名稱跟九巴測試的有所區別,更明顯的分別在於整體長度,K9D足有十二米長,而K9R則跟猛獅NL262及青年巴士相若,只有十一點七米,務求合適港島區路窄多彎環境。

而在車身方面,比亞迪K9R亦有少許修改,昔日電動巴士因要預留位置作安放電池,導致頭軸上未有任何車窗,由於比亞迪K9R只需於外側放置電池,在頭軸內側上方安裝電子路線牌後,仍有空間設置車窗,進一步增加外間光線滲進車廂,改善車廂照明度,而車廂規格亦盡是新巴標準,這包括來Hanover自橙色LED電子路線牌箱。兩架新車先後於二零一五年十一月底運抵香港,隨即進行出牌前的程序,並先後於十二月登記出牌,完成讓車長了解及熟習操控電動巴士的訓練後,兩車分別於二零一五年十二月二十七日及二十八日,安排行走南區路線78及東區路線81作實際測試。

在測試初期,比亞迪電動巴士曾經因不同機件及操作問題,需要暫時停駛及安排返回車廠作出檢查及修正後,才再安排到路面服務乘客,直到二零一六年十月中前,巴士出車率表現穩定,但隨後因剎車系統被指於雨天下容易令車輪出現打滑情況,全數比亞迪電動巴士被安排回廠檢修,直到十二月下旬仍未獲安排復出服務乘客。

In mid. of 2012, The HKSAR Government offered budget to 5 franchised bus operators through Environmental Protection Department for buying 36 electric buses and related facilities for evaluation. After a series of tender, NWS Transport awarded a contract to BYD from China for a batch of 5 BYD K9R electric single deckers and two of the batch was operated by NWFB.

This is not the first time for introducing BYD electric bus in Hong Kong, KMB already evaluated a BYD K9D between the end of 2012 and Sep., 2013, and during the final stage of evaluation, KMB arranged this eBus serving route 2 for revenue evaluation. This K9D demonstrator was stored after completed of the trial with KMB until Apr ., 2014, as an exhibit in CINEV. Let's look back on the NWFB BYD K9R, instead of the difference in model name, the overall length of K9R is only 11.7m, similar to the MAN NL262 and YoungMan, in contrast to 12m in length of the K9D and this make it suitable for the narrow road conditions in the Hong Kong Island.

As to provide space for battery, there was no windows on the front axle of electric bus in the past, as the battery only placed above the offside above the front axle, there is sufficient space for the nearside window after the installation of route display and hence, the illumination of cabin improved. The cabin is NWFB standard including the orange coloured LED route display from Hanover. The BYD K9R were delivered in the end of Nov., 2015 and received their registration in Dec ., 2015.

NWFB deployed this pair of K9R on route 78 serving Southern district and 81 serving Eastern district for revenue evaluation since 27 and 28 Dec ., 2015 respectively after completed all essential driver training.

The performance of BYD K9R can be considered satisfactory though they need to temporarily suspend service for further mechanical adjustments during the beginning stage of testing. Unfortunately, it was reported that the braking system would cause skidding during rainy days and all BYD electric buses were off from service for checking since mid. of Oct., 2016. Until the end of Dec., 2016, the BYD K9R electric bus still not return to the revenue service.
