營運東涌及新機場路線的龍運巴士，跟同集團下的九巴一樣，得到政府資助購買電動巴士作營運試驗。與其他參與試驗計劃的專利巴士公司稍為不同的是，龍運未有再引入其他製造商的產品作試驗，全數四架電動巴士都是由比亞迪提供的K9R型號，並且一如九巴同款新車一樣，車身由位於馬來西亞的順豐設計及裝嵌。

龍運比亞迪K9R是繼早年自九巴引進的丹尼士長矛後，車隊中第二款單層巴士，首架新車聯同首架九巴比亞迪K9R，一同於二零一六年十一月下旬抵港。龍運替比亞迪K9R鬆上了全新的企業塗裝，車身佈局與九巴的兄弟相同，合共可運載七十二名乘客，當中包括三十五個座位，車廂空調系統則由日本電裝提供。比亞迪未有如其他龍運成員一樣設有行李架，而車內扶手顏色則是龍運巴士所採用的橙色，與九巴比亞迪K9R的黃色扶手有所不同。

首兩架比亞迪K9R分別於二零一七年四月二十日及五月十八日出牌，有別於慣常以數字作車隊編號，龍運替比亞迪K9R安排了SE為開首的車隊編號。跟九巴一樣，新車出牌後先用作車長訓練用途，隨後於同年七月三十一日開始，安排行走S64路線，穿梭於逸東邨及機場之間作營運測試。隨著最後兩架K9R於二零一七年十月領牌行走，往返逸東邨及荃灣的E31路線，亦由二零一八年二月九日開始，加入比亞迪電動巴士行走，以進行載客營運測試。

With the aid of the Pilot Green Transport Fund offered by Environmental Protection Department, Long Win Bus, the sister company of KMB, introduced a total of 4 Gemilang bodied BYD K9R electric bus for revenue evaluation in the fourth quarter of 2016.

The BYD electric bus is the second single decker bus model operated by Long Win Bus after the Dennis Lance transferred from KMB in 1998. The first Long Win Bus K9R was delivered to Hong Kong in the end of Nov., 2016 and decorated with the latest Long Win Bus corporate livery. As the BYD K9R in the KMB fleet, they can carry 72 passengers with 35 seats offered and compartment was air conditioned by Nippon Denso. There is no luggage racks provided as the other members in Long Win Bus fleet and the handrails was orange-coloured instead of yellow applied on the KMB samples.

The first two BYD K9R registered on 20 Apr., 2017 and 18 May , 2017 respectively and allocated with the SE-prefix fleet number, instead of the digit only fleet number used in the fleet. After a series of driver training, this pair of BYD scheduled on route S64, operating between Yat Tung Estate and the Airport, since 31 Jul., 2017. The remaining pair of BYD K9R first licensed in Oct., 2017 and starting from 9 Feb., 2018, started revenue evaluation on route E31.
