亞歷山大丹尼士Enviro400 Alexander Dennis Enviro400

新創建交通服務有限公司於二零一五年九月發出招標通告，採購合共二百六十六部雙層巴士，當中包括六十架長十米的雙層巴士。經過招標程序之後，亞歷山大丹尼士成功奪得當中大部份的新車訂單，其中將向新巴提供六十架Enviro400新車。
自從二零零九年首兩架亞歷山大丹尼士Enviro4000巴士抵港進行測試，証明了兩車軸雙層空調巴士能夠適合香港的營運環境，而且營運成本較傳統的三軸短陣雙層空調巴士節省不少，而城巴，九巴以及港鐵巴士先後購入合共一百二十架Enviro400新車，用作車隊替換之用。儘管往後時間，先後有其他車廠提供兩軸雙層空調巴士予本港巴士公司作測試，但都未有威脅Enviro400在本港同款巴士市場中的領導地位。
雖然亞歷山大丹尼士Enviro400在香港已經不算是一件新鮮事，但新巴是批新車仍然能夠替一眾乘客帶來新鮮感。在外觀方面，新巴選擇了最新的Facelift版本車身，跟早年的Enviro400有著明顯的分別，其次，引進這批新車的目的主要是替換隊中的十點三米三叉戟，為了順利通過加列山道天橋下的一段山頂道，以及行走石澳及赤柱路線的需要新巴的Enviro400裝配了高四點一七米的矮車身，擁有著跟三叉戟一樣的高度，至於整車長度亦跟前輩一樣只有十點三米長。新巴是次購入的Enviro400長度上較早年其他營運商引進的同款巴士為短，全都是因為採用了略短的前跨組件，同時導致前門較窄，令到供輪椅上落的斜板需要安置於中門。
一如以往的Enviro500新車，全數Enviro400由位於珠海的廣通客車廠裝嵌，全數底盤於英國製造完成後，先被運往廣州再安排送抵車廠進行車身裝配。新巴Enviro400裝配有康明斯歐盟五型引擎，配搭福伊特的全自動波箱，空調系統則是日本電裝提供。在車廂設計方面，為了善用車廂空間，新巴在這批新車上採用了螺旋式樓梯，至於輪椅停泊位置亦由內側中門前，改為於外側樓梯後。由於預計巴士將主要服務港島區路窄多彎，兩旁滿佈樹木的路段，故此此全數新車亦於車頭裝設有樹擋。首架新巴Enviro400新車完成車身裝配後，於二零一六年十一月二日運抵本港，首批四架新車在完成驗車程序後於二零一六年冬至日登記出牌，並於同月二十八日晚上首航服務乘客。
載客量方面，新巴Enviro400初期合共提供五十三個座位(包括四個安裝於左前軸上的座位)，以及十五人企位，其後為善用車廂空間，3808在出牌前修改了先車廂佈局，上層座位數目由四十七個下調至四十三個，同時增加企位數目至二十一人，令到總載客量由八十八人增加至九十人同時，增加了上層座位乘客座距，提供一個更舒適乘車環境。自3821開始的Enviro400均採用修改後之車廂設計，至於原先已出牌的同款成員(3800 - 3807，3809 - 3820)的載客量亦於稍後時間作出修改。
當新車陸續投入服務時，新巴仍未正式安排Enviro400行走9，14及15號路線，初期主要行走2，8，13，23，25及694等路線。直到更多新車出牌之後，以及安排相關車長完成相關車型訓練後，自二零一七年四月開始才陸陸續續安排Enviro400，接替原先的十點三米三叉戟於9，14及15路線上的位置。
Alexander Dennis was successfully awarded the tender from NWS Transport for supplying 266 double decker including a batch of 60 Enviro400 as a replacement of the Dennis Trident 10.3m in NWFB, the mainstream of route 9, 14 and 15.
Since the first Enviro400 entered service in 2009, it was already proved that 2-axle air-con. buses is suitable for the operation environment in Hong Kong and total 120 Alexander Dennis Enviro400 were introduced by City Bus, KMB and MTR Bus respectively. Moreover, the running cost of a 2-axle bus model is lower than 3-axle one. Though there were more 2-axle air-con. demonstrators from other manufacturer tested in Hong Kong afterwards, Enviro400 is still the leading model of this market sector in Hong Kong.
The brand new facelift version bodywork fitted on the NWFB Enviro400 is first appeared in Hong Kong and as mentioned before, this batch of Enviro400 is the successor for the Dennis Trident 10.3m (with Duple Metsec low-bridge bodywork), they are only 4.17m in height to ensure they can pass through the bottom of the Mount Kellett Road Bridge. As shorter front overhang parts was chosen, all NWFB Enviro400 is 10.3m in length and the wheelchair ramp was relocated to the centre exit as a result of a narrow entrance.
The Enviro400 chassis was shipped from UK to Guangzhou first and then received their facelift bodywork at the plant of Zhuhai Guangtong Automobile Company Ltd. in Zhuhai. All of them powered by a Euro5 Cummins engine with Voith fully automatic transmission and the cabin is air conditioned by Nippon-Denso unit. Spiral staircase was chosen to utilize space of the cabin and the wheelchair parking bay also relocated to the offside behind the staircase. Tree guard is fitted at the top front for running narrow and winding roads with clusters of trees aside. The first NWFB Enviro400 was delivered from Zhuhai on 2 Nov., 2016 and the first batch of 4 registered on 22 Dec., 2016 and made their maiden trip on 28 Dec., 2016 night.
The original carrying capacity of Enviro400 of 3801 -3807, 3809 - 3820 was 88 passengers which total 53 seatings (4 seats was fitted on the front axle of the nearside) plus 15 standees was offered. To utilize compartment space, 3808 was used as trial with it upper deck seatings changed from 47 to 43 and total standees was increased to 21. A better legroom for the upper deck passengers and total carrying capacity of 90 passengers were resulted. The amended compartment layout was then not only adapted on the following Enviro400 prior registered but also those already entered service samples.
When the Enviro400 started to enter service, they were only serving route 2, 8, 13, 23, 25 and 694 etc., and they were taken the place of the Dennis Trident 10.3m on route 9, 14 and 15 after completion of required training with more and more of the type registered since Apr., 2018.
